The Vantage looks outwardly similar to the DB9 but is

a 2-seater on a shorter wheelbase and highly desirable

with the big V12 engine. The first racing models were

debuted in April 2012 again having been built by the

Prodrive Company. The cars were sold to private teams

but with works support and aimed at National GT

series. Beechdean Racing were one of the first teams

to buy one , having run a DBR9 previously ( see photos ).

Andrew Howard is the co-founder of the Beechdean Ice

Cream company from Buckinghamshire and employs pro

driver Johnny Adam in the Brit GT series. The pair won

the overseas round at the Nurburgring , race 1 before a

big rebuild after a heavy crash into the Rockingham

circuit`s banking wall. Then at Brands the 2nd place

finish was the closest margin of victory in the series

history as the Nissan GTR just held on by inches. The  team had 3 podiums from 7 rounds. Also in the series

was John Gaw`s Cyber Racing car with 2 starts.

In the German ADAC GT the `Young Driver Team AMR`

ran 2 cars  for Danish pair Kristian Poulsen and Chris

Nygaard , winning race 2 at Sachsenring. Car 2 had the

two sons of legend Hans Stuck jnr, Johannes and

Ferdinand , their best finish was 6th. In the All Japan

GT series `A Speed` had a best finish of 10th at the

Suzuka 1000 for Hiroki Yoshimoto + Kazuki Hoshino ,

though the pair did win the season finale sprint at Fuji.

2013 again saw Beechdean as a front runner in the Brit

GT winning at Brands and driver/owner Howard just

taking the overal drivers Championship by 1 + half

points. This car and the Belgian GPR had

works support in the very well supported Blancpain GT

series. At the Silverstone 3 hours the actual works car

won outright with Darren Turner , Stefan Mucke+ Fred

Makowiecki in the PRO class. Beechdean + Barwell ran

cars in the PRO AM class and the Gaw car in the GENT

class for amatuers. At the Spa 24 hours in the series it

was the Beechdean car that started on pole having had

works driver Stefan Mucke loaned to them and lead the

first hour before eventually finishing 23rd , 10th in the

PRO AM class. The yellow Belgian cars of GPR  both

retired , including the PRO car with Brit pair Turner +

Jamie Campbell-Walter on board.
