ENGINE : Zakspeed 4 Cylinder 1745 cc / 2124cc

             both with single KKK Turbo

POWER : 650 BHP @8800rpm ( 2.3 bar race boost )

Executive Mike Kranefuss set up Fords `Special Vehicles

Operations` in Michigan he turned to his old racing team

patron Eric Zakowski to promote the new Mustang.Using the

same silhouette racer chassis/engine as the succesfull

Zakspeed Capris the `clone`body of the Capri was changed

for the Mustang and ran in the top GTP group. The car won

on its IMSA debut with Zakspeeds top driver Klaus Ludwig

at Road America ( August 1983 ). The car was just as flame

spittingly fast as the Capris but despite top drivers like

Ludwig , Bob Wolleck , Geoff Brabham + Bobby Rahal the

car wasnt reliable enough. Ludwig gained a couple of 5th in

1984 before the project evolved into the Probe sportscar.
